In a move that has rocked the poker world, professional poker player Clonie Gowen filed a multi-faceted lawsuit on November 14th against her alleged former employer, Full Tilt Poker, and the. Cycalona (Clonie) Gowen (born November 6, 1971) is an American professional poker player, based in Dallas, Texas. Gowen was born in Florida, and grew up in Kiowa, Oklahoma. (Her first name was inspired by the fact that she was born during a powerful storm.). At the age of fifteen, Gowen was crowned Miss Teen McAlester, Oklahoma. Introduced to poker by her boyfriend’s father, she started playing poker while living in Dallas and driving to Shreveport, Louisiana, on weekends and making a few hundred dollars each week.

At the poker table, she is a force to be reckoned with, yet she is a gracious winner. Her formative years prepared her well for competitive situations.

She grew up in Kiowa, Oklahoma, winning the title of Miss Teen McAlister, Oklahoma in her fifteenth year. Her teen years were spent in Corsica, Texas.

In high school, she was intensely involved in sports. She was a powerhouse on her varsity basketball team. She also participated strongly in such events as the high jump as far as the state level.

Stepping into Poker

Clonie learned to play poker from her boyfriend’s father. After she divorced from her first husband, she was living in Dallas and started going to Shreveport, Louisiana to play poker on weekends.

She found that she was having a good deal of success and before long, she was doing well enough to quit her job at a travel agency. She had gotten to have some adventurous vacations through the agency, but she was ready to move on and work full-time as a poker pro.

Clonie went to Costa Rica in 2002 to go scuba diving. Little did she know that it would be a start of a higher level of poker winnings for her. When she heard that the World Poker Tour was having a tournament with a $500 buy-in, she was amazed. She asked herself, “Why not?”

Apparently, the answer was that there was no reason at all not to enter. Gowen played in that tournament, her first major one. She not only played well, but she finished in 10th position. It only whetted her appetite for more.

In 2003, Clonie Gowen was on hand for the Season 2 World Poker Tour Ladies’ Night. She played proficiently and came out on top. After winning this event, she was well on her way to poker stardom and due to her looks was a draw for the TV camera’s who were following the sport of poker more and more as it’s popularity grew.

Other winning performances by Gowen include a 7th place in the $2,000 No Limit Hold ‘Em Ultimate Challenge tournament and 3rd place at the FullTiltPoker championship at The Wynn, Las Vegas. She also participated in the Poker After Dark TV series and won first place during Ladies’ Week for a purse of $120,000.

Poker Pro Clonie Gowen

Clonie Gowen has been a guest commentator for events such as the Ultimate Poker Challenge. She has been a regular commentator for Bluff Magazine at the World Series of Poker. She is also on the board of directors of the United States Poker Association.

She has also hosted many tournaments and charity events and started a school to teach poker. Her theory is that players need to be well-trained to play poker with the concept that it is their money on the table.

Poker Pro Clonie Gowen is certainly not happy with online poker room giant Full Tilt Poker and she proved that the other day by filing a lawsuit against Tiltware, LLC. and Full Tilt Poker. Here is the biggest breathe taker though, Clonie Gowen is asking for a large, very large sum of money totalling $40 million. Yes that is correct $40 million, if you need to take a second to take a nice big breathe then you can, I will wait. Well the reason for the filing is because Clonie Gowen is accusing Tiltware and Full Tilt Poker of breach of contracts, Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Breach of the Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing, Unjust Enrichment and Fraud.

The reason for the filing to the lawsuit because during alleged meetings between Tiltware Executives and Clonie Gowen came upon oral agreements that would allow Clonie to endorse the website. The only thing is Clonie Gowen is stating that there was no written contracts signed and most of the promises were made while talking on the telephone with the Tiltware Executives. Another piece of information to note that in the filing of the lawsuit some of the Full Tilt Poker pros were also listed. Poker pros such as Howard Lederer, Andy Bloch, Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, John Juanda, Phil Gordon, Erick Lindgren, Erik Seidel, Jennifer Harman, Mike Matusow, Allen Cunningham, Gus Hansen and Patrik Antonius.

“Tiltware, LLC, has been made aware of the recent filing of a merit less lawsuit by a former Full Tilt Poker endorser — Ms. Cycalona Gowen. All claims have no merit and there are many inaccuracies improperly and unlawfully asserted by Ms. Gowen within her frivolous complaint. Tiltware LLC expects that this lawsuit will be dealt with accordingly by a competent court in due course.”

Also Clonie Gowen is no longer associated with Full Tilt Poker and no longer has her red highlighted name and personal avatar on the online poker giant Full Tilt Poker.
